TO DO LIST

1: We need images that work in the context of habitats and environmental scenarios.
2: Any artwork of any organism is o.k. (even repeats), but we are currently lacking in organisms from the plant and microbial world.
3: Many cards are missing the corresponding photograph of the organism.

HOW TO SUBMIT IMAGES
Thanks for reading this. This project thrives on a variety of different people taking part, but it really is the art that is the first step! You can contribute images to the Phylo project by first uploading them onto your Flickr account (this is easy and free!), and then adding them to one of three Phylo submission groups (illustration | photography | school). By participating, you agree that you, the artist, retain full copyright for the image, except for use in the Phylo project where it adheres to a strict Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 2.0 Generic Creative Commons License (i.e. only used for non-commercial educational phylo card game use)

Note that we prefer the images to be submitted in a certain format which is similarly described in all of the submission groups (also see below). This is primarily to streamline the process of card production as well as enable full artist protection and attribution (i.e. 1. the submitted image dimensions are quite small and really only useful in the context of a small trading card image and 2. that tags are set up so that artist identity and a showcase URL can accompany the image throughout all steps).

Currently, not all images will be chosen for card production, but those that are selected will be moved onto our Phylomon Flickr account, which in turn feeds our website’s card queue. We are also currently focusing on illustration, but the website has been set up to toggle between cards with illustrations and cards with photos. Future plans include widgets that will make use of school involvement (see education section)

IMAGE SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

1. JPEG format only

2. 150dpi, 360 pixels x 225 pixels (2.4 inches x 1.5 inches) – landscape mode

3. Please leave tags (in following order):

(i) organism common name;
(ii) organism latin name, (if not sure, use “latinus latinus”);
(iii) Artist name;
(iv) Artist website (“n/a” if not applicable),
(remaining tags) organism locale (city, state/county/province, country) – none or as many as you care to input.

4. It also helps if you attribute the following creative commons license in the description area:
“Phylo submission is licensed under a Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 2.0 Generic specific for use in the Phylo card project. All other uses as below:”

Then add any specific details you wish to highlight (like “please ask first”, “actually the license is ok for all uses”, “If you’d like to buy the bigger print go here”, etc.)

5. Regardless of your specific details, it’s a good idea to leave any referral websites so that readers can explore the rest of your works. This is just easier for readers to see, even though one of the tags you supplied is the same website (this will come up in the actual card itself if chosen).

6. Images chosen for card production will be uploaded onto our main Phylomon Flickr account.
